Visit to Connecticut

This past weekend, I went to visit Mom and Greg in Connecticut. I had a lovely trip. Poor Mom was not feeling well, but I got to spend time with Greg. He trained me at the gym. He's preparing for a new body building show in June. Good luck!

We also went to visit my Aunt Geraldine and Uncle Jimmy's new puppy, Sophia. They were down at my aunt's florist shop (the best florist shop ever)! It was wonderful to see my aunt and uncle and to meet Sophia. She's over the top cute! Welcome to the family.

Seth and I got our first gifts off the registry this past week. A surprise package awaited us at home with the cutlery we registered for and (!!!) the comforter set with sheets for our new queen size bed (coming soon). Very exciting! Thanks for Uncle Moe and Aunt Judi for these great things that we'll use every day. I am sure that Lily will also enjoy them. She loves blankets.

In wedding news, we're currently working on getting the invites printed. Our printer had a snag, so Mom is letting us use her's. Seth and I will be down in Connecticut at the end of the month (April) for my shower and for my first fitting. My wedding dress just came in, so I am excited to see what it looks like. Busy, busy!

New

Last weekend, my vacuum of six years, The Boss by Eurika, died. True, The Boss had been less commanding of dirt in the past couple of years, most notably allowing the carpet to boss it a bit more than was desirable. Last Saturday, however, the situation with The Boss went from bad to worse.

While vacuuming the kitchen The Boss started to emit a funny noise. No matter, probably just sucked something up the wrong way, I thought. Then in the living room the weird noise was accompanied by a even weirder smell. Finally, it became evident that in addition to making a bad noise and smelling, The Boss was no longer picking up any dirt whatsoever.

I am a good vacuum owner. I empty my vacuum after every use, as recommended in the manual. I clean the rotating brush. I thought perhaps that the rotating brush had not been cleaned recently enough. After all, it had been a couple of months. Cleaning the brush had only one result, I made the floor even more dirty. It was evident to all present, that The Boss was a loss.

I was upset. I had banked on The Boss having a few months left. I just needed it to make it to the wedding, when I had hopes of getting a Dyson DC24 vacuum, which I had registered for. This did not happen.

Seth and I got in the car and went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, where we registered and there made the first purchase on our registry, buying the Dyson for ourselves.

This is the Dyson.

Needless to say, it is the Mercedes Benz of vacuums. (Also, it could be referred to as the "mack daddy" of vacuums. Take your pick.) The Dyson DC24 could suck the finish off the floor. It could pull the hair off the cat in the other room. Okay, I exaggerate but only slightly because it did suck up a good chunk of our bathmat. (Needless to say, I won't be using it on the bathmat again. I have a small Shark vacuum that I can use for that. I also love my Shark.) This week, I have had many household needs for the new vacuum, including a cat litter spill (giant!) and dirt from the maintainance worker from Berkshire Gas who installed the new meter. I am super 100% happy with my new house cleaning "toy."

I also had my first ever manicure on Friday. It was super cheap ($12). I thought the color was blue with sparkles, but it appear more black. (Seth says it's "Spike season 2" nail polish. The reference being to a character from Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.") A fun experience.

Next, pictures of Lily! Our baby girl just turned three at the beginning of the month.

Her life, at this point, is decidedly not so hard. She gets everything she ever wants from Seth and me and enjoys quite a comfortable existence. She's loved the past year plus at the condo where it has been much more quiet. She has really been able to relax, as these photos show.

Happy birthday, fuzzy baby girl!
